This course is designed for members of the Civil Service who need to influence, engage and negotiate effectively with stakeholders and colleagues. It is suitable for those who want to build confidence in managing relationships, delivering difficult messages and achieving positive outcomes through effective negotiation.

No specialist analytical knowledge is required.

This practical course develops the skills needed to plan, structure and deliver effective negotiations in a way that maintains strong professional relationships. Participants will explore how to build and sustain rapport, map and analyse stakeholders, and communicate assertively when asking for what they need or delivering messages that may be unwelcome. The course focuses on applying these skills within real-world analytical service contexts, including discussions, case studies and practical exercises tailored to participant needs.

Learning is highly interactive and includes opportunities to practise negotiation techniques, receive feedback and apply approaches to realistic workplace scenarios.
